Chances are, if you are a Farmville fanatic, you are going to love CityVille. Think of CityVille as an urban version of FarmVille. Instead of planting and harvesting crops, you plant business's, homes and decorations and even farmlands and plants. The goal of CityVille is to have a large city with a huge population. With a myriad of different types of buildings to cash out on and a seemingly endless variety of city layouts, CityVille is the best successor to FarmVille on Facebook. It follows the traditional gameplay of a social MMORPG, so adding friends is key!
How to Play CityVille – The Basics
Playing this MMORPG, CityVille, will come to you naturally if your a fan of FarmVille or any other city building app on Facebook. You start with a small plot of land, some coins, energy and some supplies. Those are actually the three main resources in CityVille. You will not be doing much of anything in your city without them. You use energy to do pretty much everything. Supplies are used to restock all of the business's in your city. Coins are the main currency in CityVille, but of course there is also the “cash” version of currency that requires real world money as with most apps on Facebook have. You use coins to buy everything for your city.
A typical day in CityVille consists of collecting rent from homes, collecting earnings from business's and resupplying them, harvesting and planting crops. Different homes will earn you a different amount of coin. The longer it takes for the residents to pay rent the higher the rent you will get from them generally. For business's, the higher the amount of supply it takes to stock the store, the higher the earnings.
Getting Higher Earnings in CityVille
By using decorations in your city, you can increase the amount of earnings for both of your residential buildings, business's and community buildings. There are hundreds of decoration types in CityVille that can increase the earnings from buildings surrounding the decoration anywhere from 1% to 10%. The best way to increase earnings is to place the highest payout increasing decoration near buildings that earn you the most coin. Bonus's will stack as well. A good starter design is to simply surround all by 1 square tile of space around a building. The one blank square should be used to build a sidewalk to connect to your road.
Maximize CityVille Payout Earnings
A neat trick for maximizing payouts in CityVille is to abolish the road all together. The road is not needed at all and takes up way to much room, especially if you're just starting a fresh city. You only need 1 road tile. Use sidewalks for the entire rest of your city. To prevent confusion and make it easier to see, try to layout your sidewalk before you place your buildings. Decide on 1 type of decoration and stick with it. Placing a lot of small plants that are 1/4th a tile can cause your city to lag massively. For that reason I highly suggest you limit the number you buy or don't buy them all together.
Neighbors, Neighbors, Neighbors!

In CityVille it is an absolute necessity to have lots and lots of neighbors. So start inviting all of your Facebook friends and but them with another annoying app to play!
